Mancelona United Methodist Church
In addition to the missions we support (See Missions & Services page), we strive to reach out to our local community with programs and events that are spiritually enriching, such as:
COMMUNITY MEAL PROGRAM
Prayer is important to us! We have installed a permanent Prayer Box outside our church for anyone to stop and request a prayer for themselves or for someone they love. These written prayers are collected and prayed upon by our pastor, lay leaders, and the congregation on Sunday mornings. Those requesting prayers may remain anonymous or share contact information and the pastor or a member of our church will get back with them. You can also email us a prayer request (see link on home page).

OTHER OUTREACH PROGRAMS
Reaching out to our community is an important part of being United Methodists. Here are some examples of ways in which we walk in Jesus' footsteps:
Visits to Meadowbrook Nursing Home SPROUT - Mancelona Clean-up Day
Care Notes Labyrinth Build
Community Garden Veterans Appreciation
Meals for Funerals Easter Basket Donations
Supporting Our Schools
Following the teachings of Jesus, “I was hungry and you fed me . . . a stranger and you welcomed me,” we offer a weekly meal free of charge to our community.
Established in March 2012, we have been serving a meal every Tuesday in the Fellowship Hall of our church. This meal offers a welcoming atmosphere, food, fellowship and acceptance to all who come through our doors. Enthusiastically supported by many volunteers from our congregation, as well as others from our community, we serve from 40 to 80 people each week. Four cooking teams, each serving once a month, prepare the meals in our Health Department certified kitchen. Other volunteers greet, serve and clean up. In 2012, we served over 2,000 individual meals!
We partner with Manna Food Bank, Northwest Michigan Food Coalition and Food Rescue to provide wholesome, nutritious meals at minimal cost to us. Our meals are funded entirely through generous financial donations and in-kind services provided by our church.
Look for the sign in front of our church each Tuesday and come join us!
From time to time, we honor a GOOD SAMARITAN AWARD. Many people do what they might say are the "little things," however, they are really "big" and make our church thrive. We appreciate our Christian helpers!
